I’ve heard of the Autumn Leaf show but have never been to it; I might try to make it this year. It’s a shame Gorgerail ceased to exist as it was much more relaxing than Winterail.

The popping out shot came out like I expected. Since it was so dark I went with a slow shutter speed and blurred the movement a bit. My favorite was a shot I took just as your last unit came out of the tunnel and the smoke was rolling out with it! It will likely make the program I’m building for the Autumn Leaf show this fall.

If I recall correctly it was your train that had a brake that was smoking lightly as it went by. I figured if it was too bad the 557 detector would have got ya. I took a photo of your DP and that reminded me of it.

I think the only reason more people don’t visit the hill is lack of trains or the perceived lack of trains. In the gorge you can expect to see nearly 20 trains in a day if the MOW is not in the way. In the blues 6 trains in daylight is a slow day. I really think its a grass is greener issue.

I agree the scenery is fabulous and around every corner is something else to photograph so that certainly isn’t an issue. I love trains climbing hills so I like to visit mountain passes as much as possible.

I have always wondered why more people don’t come up here. Yeah, the “Gorge” and the “Blues” get more trains but the scenery up here is pretty neat.
