Chimping on the Platform

If photography is prohibited on an Amtrak platform without a ticket is chimping also? Names, dates, and locations to remain private to protect the innocent.

Beautiful composition with a nice Bokeh. It sets railway action in a different context. Very sad to hear the stories about the Amtrak photographing policy. Happy to live in Switzerland, where there is no issue with photographing at all (also no security guards bothering you).

Thanks Oliver. The good news is Amtrak doesn’t have the number of people necessary to fully implement their policy. Certain platforms like New York’s Penn Station where access is tightly controlled (you are released from the waiting room when your train is in position and ready to board) Amtrak is easily able to enforce their policy. At a more rural station like the one photographed they really can’t control who is on or off the platform at any given time since the entire platform is open to the parking lot. Fortunately there are no security guards here.
