Welcome to the newly-refreshed Dogcaught.com. Here’s a summary of changes that have been implemented:
Social Network Integration
You can now become a fan of Dogcaught on Facebook or keep up with our latest posts on Twitter.
On single-post pages, you’ll see a little widget at the bottom of each article that easily allows you to share the post on Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, or other social networks. If you like a post… share it with your friends!
Commenting Improvements
Dogcaught is now using a robust comments system powered by Disqus. You can still leave a comment the way you always have, by typing in your name, email address, and (optionally) URL. Or you can log in using your Facebook, Twitter, or OpenID credentials. It’s up to you. The comment system also now features the ability to subscribe to followup comments by email.
Top-Of-Page Navigation
Some things which used to be in the left sidebar have been moved to the navigation bar that runs across the top of the page below the header.
A few other notes…
- With over four years of content, the monthly listing of archives was taking up quite a bit of room. Old posts can now be found on a dedicated Archives page, listed by month (and when you click on a month you can see each post for the month).
- The railroad-specific search engine box has been removed from the top of the page (it was only being used by a tiny percentage of our visitors).
In addition to the changes noted here, some behind-the-scenes things have changed which should allow for new features, faster, in the future.
Let us know what you think of the changes; I think we’ve got a cleaner look that should allow us to offer some nice things while retaining a focus on great train photos.
