Into The Storm

by Steve Eshom on December 12, 2010

Vancouver lucked out with the rainfall from the most recent storm to hit the Northwest.  During the big storm Vancouver received just over an inch while areas north of Olympia towards Seattle received 2″+.    This morning while I was out looking for trains I noticed the clouds continued to be dark and ominous towards the north as the rain was still falling up there.   In this photo the north bound UP intermodal train in the foreground is headed north and right into the storm while the BNSF herder on the left is going to stay dry as they were headed to 39th Street.

Even though Vancouver received relatively little rain there was a slide on the Seattle sub Saturday afternoon which has shut down Amtrak service between Portland and Seattle.   The rest of this week is forecast to be wet too so hopefully this is it for the slides.
